Nearly There :)

After a great Holiday at the Riviera Maya Barcelo Resort in Mexico I'm back in the groove. It's amazing how some consistent warmth and persistent sunshine can make a person with health challenges feel better in themselves and ready to face their issues with more confidence.

I now have one of my early paintings "The Summer" on view and for sale at Caffe' Rosa in Whitchurch, Bristol UK.

This piece holds my vision of summer, soft lush green grass to walk on barefoot, a beach to find shells on (in this case a Nautilus Shell) and a blue sky with wistful clouds to enjoy it all under.

 
My plan is slowly coming together; The Posse is nearly finished (see below) and when it is it will be off to the printers with a couple of my other works for image capture for the giclee prints. I can then start selling exclusive high quality prints from my new website which I will turn my focus to next.

The meadow grass base is in and the Marshall is finished.

So as mentioned I have to get my website finished before I start my next piece (called Loulou Belle); the website basics are in place but as always it's the detail that takes the time.

More Sneak Peeks

The face of The Posse.

Hi, well it's been a demanding, sometimes challenging and often funny week; where my art work has taken a back seat to planned and unplanned events. That's life! If you can't fit the good bits around the less than good bits, you're not doing it right, anyway enough preamble these peeks are more "good bits" I've completed on "The Posse."

I see the outrider as more of the Captain of the Posse rather than the seeker. This is him in my minds eye form, the literal translation of whatis in my imagination, later I decide to put him in a "duster" coat

Hi and Welcome.

I'm Mike O'Hagan and thanks for visiting my blog.

Follow my journey as an Artist working in acrylics and mixed media; emerging slowly, cautiously, blinking, as the world discovers my work. You'll see some of my Art and photo journals of how my art takes shape.

I had several successful high profile leadership business roles and my career was going very well until I was "taken out" by a minor stroke in 2003. This refocused me and changed my life beyond recognition. I was left with many ongoing health challenges (some still emerging) but I got myself walking and talking again with the help of some very innovative strategies and bloody minded determination.

Now I'm on a complex mixture of prescribed drugs and medications along with Physiotherapy and Pyschologists helping me with mental strategies to live the best life I can within the limitations I have. I also have to say that I have two fantastic Consultants looking after me, without whom I would not be able or willing to be on the path I have taken. Thank you very much to the medical teams at the BRI in Bristol. And of course a GREAT family around me who may not always like the challenges I set myself, but always support me.

On this journey I found myself emerging as an artistic talent. Many years later I now have the confidence in myself (again) and my work. I use mostly acrylics often with other ingredients to create focus pieces. The "pictures" come into my mind already made and then it's my job to get the picture out of my head and onto the canvas. It's a long process. The last piece "Baby Lush" took just under three months from concept sketches to final touches and I only work on one piece at a time.
